Welcome to the j-a-m pulse, successor to the very popular PeacePulse: an online tool that helps you remember to take just a minute for yourself at regular intervals throughout your day. This is the practice that enables just-a-minute to make a real and positive difference in life.
Switch on the j-a-m pulse and, while this site is open in a tab, a one-minute meditation plays every hour on the hour, or as often as you choose.
Choose a chime, a meditation with music or the voice alone. Your settings stay in this browser.
A minute, every hour
How it works
The j-a-m pulse is controlled from the bell at the top right of every page of this website.
- Switch the j-a-m pulse on or off with the switch next to the bell.
- Open the settings with the arrow beside it. Choose how often the pulse plays: every two hours or every hour on the hour, or every 45, 30 or 15 minutes. Then press Save and switch on. Try it now plays one straight away.
- Keep a just-a-minute page open in your browser for the j-a-m pulse to work. If you have several open, only one of them plays.
What happens at each pulse depends on the sound you choose:
- A chime sounds at the start of your minute, and again at the end.
- A meditation with music plays a randomly chosen one-minute j-a-m meditation, from the 42 on the site.
- A meditation without music is the same, with the voice alone.
Some browsers only play sound after you have clicked on the page. If yours is one of them, a small card appears at the bottom of the screen when it is time for your minute: press play to begin. You can also ask for a notification when the website is in a background tab.
Your settings are kept in your browser, on this device only.
The j-a-m team would like to say a big, heartfelt thank you to Gaiasoft, who generously created PeacePulse to support the just-a-minute project, which helped inspire the creation of the j-a-m pulse.
